NCRA positions
The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) at Pune, India, invites applications for post-doctoral fellowships. NCRA offers exciting opportunities for research in a wide range of areas in astronomy and astrophysics, including studies of the Sun and the interplanetary medium, gas in the Milky Way and external galaxies, star-forming regions, supernovae, pulsars and compact objects, the formation and evolution of galaxies, active galaxies, cosmology, and fundamental constant evolution. Staff members at NCRA also develop cutting edge technology relevant for radio astronomy, in areas such as analog and digital electronics, fibre optic communications and software/hardware signal processing. NCRA also operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), a major international facility. The post-doctoral fellow is expected to pursue an active research programme, either independently or in collaboration with NCRA staff members and students.
NCRA's Post-doctoral Fellowships are for a period of 3 years, subject to annual reviews of performance. The current salary is in the range INR 21,000 to 24,000 per month, the fellows are entitled to on-campus housing (subject to availability) and health care benefits. Post-doctoral fellows have a travel allowance of INR 2 lakhs over their 3-year term, and a contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- per year.
